After its purchase in 2001 Rooksbury Mill has been transformed from a privately owned trout fishery into a designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in 2008. Since then the reserve has gone from strength to strength, being awarded coveted Green Flag status in both 2009 and 2010.
Andover is incredibly fortunate to have, nestled in between the A303 and Watermills Park, a delightful nature reserve known as Rooksbury Mill. The site south of the town started life as part of the Rooksbury Mill Estate. In 1966 the plan was to open the site for gravel extraction to provide material for the then underconstruction A303.
